Introducing the Eagle Activity Tracker: AI-Powered Tracking for Our Eagle Cams

Never miss an eagle visit again. Our new AI-powered Eagle Activity Tracker shows you whether an eagle is at the nest right now, and lets you watch every visit from the past month.

Eagle watchers have always told us the hardest part is timing. You check in, the nest is empty, and you find out later you just missed a landing, a feeding, or a stick delivery. The Eagle Activity Tracker fixes that.

It's live now on Hilton Head Island Eagles, Dataw Eagles, and NEFL Eagles.

Eagle Activity Tracker User Interface

How It Works

Our AI eagle detection checks each nest every 30 seconds and notes when an eagle arrives and when it leaves. Each visit is saved as a clip you can watch anytime. The page updates on its own.

Eagle Activity at a Glance

Open an eagle cam and click the new Activity tab under the player. At the top you'll see whether an eagle is at the nest now, or when one was last seen, plus four quick numbers:

  • Visits today, since midnight
  • Time at the nest today, all of today's visits added up
  • Visits over the last 7 days, or whichever range you pick
  • Time at the nest, as a daily average over that range

Every Visit, Day by Day

The Day by day timeline gives you one row per day. Each orange bar is a visit. Hover over a bar to see the arrival and departure times, and click it to watch.

  • Orange: a visit you can watch
  • Green: an eagle is at the nest right now
  • Yellow: the video is coming soon
  • Grey: no footage

Times are always shown in the camera's local time, so sunrise at the nest looks like sunrise.

Visits Play Right Here

Click any visit and it plays right in the player, in place of the live stream.

  • Long visits play as a timelapse. Switch to Normal speed under the title to watch in real time.
  • Snapshots work here too, just like on live.
  • ● Back to live takes you straight back to the stream.

Every visit also has its own link, so you can share a great moment with a friend and it opens right to that visit.

Tell Us What the Eagle Is Doing

While an eagle is at the nest, or while you're watching a visit, you'll see "What's the eagle doing?" Pick an activity such as eating, nest building, preening, feeding chicks, or mating. Your label goes on the moment showing in the player and helps everyone find moments like it.

You'll need to be logged in to label.

Find the Moments You Love

Look back 7, 14, or 30 days, then use Filter to show only visits with a certain label, such as Eating or Nest building. The visit list narrows to the matches.

Know When to Tune In

Two charts help you plan your viewing:

  • Time at the nest per day shows how busy the nest has been.
  • When eagles are at the nest shows the hours of the day eagles are usually there.

This is especially helpful if you only have a few minutes and want to catch the action.

All Visits in One List

Below the charts, All visits lists every visit, newest first, with a thumbnail, the times, how long it lasted, and any labels. Click one to watch it.

Getting Started

Open Hilton Head Island Eagles, Dataw Eagles, or NEFL Eagles and click the Activity tab. A short tour walks you through everything the first time, and you can take it again anytime with Take a tour at the top of the tab.
