Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies
Nestled along the shores of Kachemak Bay in Homer, Alaska, the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies (founded in 1982) offers immersive, hands‑on environmental education and ecotourism experiences in one of Alaska’s most dynamic marine ecosystems. With a network of field locations including Inspiration Ridge Preserve, Peterson Bay Field Station, Wynn Nature Center, and even a “Yurt on the Spit”, the Center invites visitors of all ages to explore diverse coastal habitats, participate in guided tours and school programs, engage in citizen science initiatives like CoastWalk, and foster deep connections with wilderness stewardship. Its mission "Explore, Connect, Protect" captures the heart of its work: inspiring environmental understanding and conservation through nature-based learning and community engagement.
