Hermosa Beach is a beachfront city in Los Angeles County. The quintessential SoCal beach town of Hermosa Beach has nearly 2 miles of beach along the pacific ocean, one of the most popular beaches for locals and tourists in Los Angeles. Between Redondo Beach to the South and Manhattan Beach to the North, Hermosa Beach is frequented by tourists, professional or amateur volleyball players and surfers. Surfing is a large part of this little LA beach town's history, culture and heritage. Hermosa Beach is known as the original birthplace of surfing in California. Along the Hermosa Beach Pier is the Surfers Walk of Fame, which honors local surf legends with a bronze plaque embedded along the pier.

This camera is located at the corner of Pier Ave and The Strand walkway, on top of Henessey’s Tavern. The camera view points towards the Hermosa Pier Plaza at the base of the Hermosa Beach Pier .The Strand is the 4.3 mile long paved walkway that connects Hermosa Beach to Manhattan and Redondo Beaches. The perfect walkway for rollerblading, walking, biking or skateboarding. Pier Avenue is lined with many Hermosa Beach bars and restaurants.

The bronze statue of a surfer in the right corner of the live stream is the Tim Kelly Lifeguard Memorial. Surf legend and lifeguard, Tim Kelly is remembered in the South Bay’s Junior Lifeguard Program. He died at the young age of 24 in a fatal car accident on his way home from a surf trip in San Diego’s Trestles Beach in 1964. The bronze monument plaque reads, “The Tim Kelly lifeguard memorial is dedicated to the brave men and women who have passed through the ranks of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Lifeguard Division. Their courage, professionalism and devotion to live-saving is recognized worldwide.”

This live camera view is perfect for checking the surf conditions, watching Volleyball Tournaments, as well as people watching on the Hermosa Beach Pier and The Strand Walkway. Notable events on this south side of the Hermosa Beach Pier include the International Surf Festival, and CBVA Volleyball Tournaments.

The structure seen north of the pier is the 13th street lifeguard tower. Hermosa Beach’s history involves the painting of lifeguard towers to reflect social movements. In May 2021 an 18-year old Hermosa beach local approached the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for approval to paint the tower in the LGBTQ pride flag colors. The city unanimously approved, between June 26th and the end of summer the tower will be painted rainbow to honor Pride Month.
