EL CAJON BARN OWL CAM
LIVE 24/7 VIEWS INTO EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA'S BARN OWL NEST BOX
POWERED BY HDONTAP.COM

Watch live as these Barn Owls inhibit their nest box.

This Barn Owl box has been inhabited by owls in the area for the past 3 years.

The 2021 Season started early with what is believed to be a new barn owl pair, as they arrived much earlier in the season than typical for the resident barn owls pair in years past.

Barn Owls nest in many kinds of structures including tree cavities, buildings, barn lofts and nest boxes. Barn Owl females make "nests" using their own regurgitated pellets, shredded with their feet and arranged in a cup.

Unlike most birds, owls may use their nest sites for roosting throughout the year. Nest sites are often reused from year to year. The Barn Owl clutch size can range from 2-13 eggs and the incubation period is about 29 to 34 days.

Once hatched, barn owls have a fluffy down coat. Owlet siblings get along perhaps better than most human siblings, they clean and feed one another and huddle together to stay warm. As they grow, they will continue to care for each other, preening and delivering food to their siblings when necessary.

Barn Owls mate for life and remain devoted with their mate. They will often show compassion and tenderness with their mate. They share courtship rituals such as flights, calls and food offerings to reinforce their bond.

Reminder to Live Wildlife Stream Viewers: This live stream is a glimpse into the world of wild animals. The barn owls we see on the screen are wild and in nature, anything can happen. While we hope that all the wild animals grow up to be healthy and successfuly fledge each season, things like sibling rivalry, predators, naural disaster, food insecurity, predators and natural disaster or territorial disputes can affect this wild barn owl family and may be difficult to watch.
