Development and Growth

Over the years, DBG has transformed from a concept into a flourishing 37-acre garden. Key milestones include:

2013: Approval of the property's conditional use and site plan by the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission and County Council. 

2014-2021: Fundraising efforts garnered over $5.5 million, facilitating the garden's development and ensuring its sustainability.

DBG features diverse environments, each offering unique experiences:

Piet Oudolf Meadow: Designed by renowned Dutch plantsman Piet Oudolf, this meadow showcases a variety of native plants, providing habitat for local wildlife and a visual feast for visitors. 

Woodland Gardens: A 12.5-acre sloped woodland area with freshwater wetlands, offering a tranquil setting and supporting biodiversity. 

Pepper Creek: The garden boasts 1,000 feet of waterfront along Pepper Creek, featuring tidal wetlands and opportunities for visitors to connect with the coastal environment.
